Here is my first #RetroRetakes for 2019! This is my favorite part of my Instagram, searching through countless Old Hollywood photos to recreate with the help of my brother and mom. And I’m so glad to include a book that reminds me of my photo series which is called “Dear Los Angeles”. This nonfiction novel, comprised of letters written from 1542-2018 “is a slice of life in L.A. through the years” told through the eyes of film stars, residents, and innovators. I already began reading it, and I love seeing the famous city from so many different perspectives throughout history!

Hi! Thanks for asking. I haven’t written my WIP in months, sadly, because I just survived quite possibly the worst semester of my entire life which actually made me want to quit college (i ended up getting a 4.0 GPA for the semester!).
So I haven’t written my story, but that’s not to say I haven’t written anything lately! Rather than writing for fiction, I’ve been writing bookish articles on Book Riot and you can see all the articles by clicking here

@andrewsmcmeel was kind enough to give me Alexandra Elle’s new journal that is all about self-discovery, growth, and exploration. It’s a journal I plan on writing in every day to delve deeper into what inspires me, what makes me happy, and how I want to improve myself.

Inspired by this journal, I want to share some goals I have with you all: do yoga at least four times a week, learn to cook healthy meals, make videos consistently on my channel, write more, wake up earlier, and stop impulsive purchases. Do you have any goals for 2019?

Do you have any reading goals for the new year? I want to read 100 books, but I’m not holding myself to it. If I don’t hit it, that’s perfectly fine. Over the years I’ve learned to let reading become a true hobby and not a chore, that way the number of novels don’t keep me up at night anymore.

There’s nothing nicer than wandering New York City’s streets with friends, exploring bookshops, and taking photos of each other to keep hold of the memories we made.

What books are you reading to end off 2018?

I’m currently reading Queen of Air and Darkness (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) and Pride by Ibi Zoboi which is an Afro-Latinx retelling of Pride and Prejudice, and I’m adoring both books! I really hope I can finish them before the year ends.

Thank you so much to @berkleypub for gifting me these free books, especially my most anticipated book of 2019, When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton! I cannot believe that I have another novel written by a Cuban author in my hands, alongside other amazing romance novels which are my favorite genre of books to devour.

I’m still in awe of how many Cuban novels are being published, as of late. Our culture, history, and undying passion is finally being shown to the world through fictional storytelling. When I was little, I never saw myself reflected in the stories I read. I had never heard of Cuban characters talking so openly about their resilience and cultural history. It still makes me smile to know that we’re finally getting our chance to tell our stories, whether they’re in a romance, historical fiction, fantasy, etc. It’s a dream come true.
